Smoking changes what people notice, while emotions and attachment styles may also shape attention to smoking-related cues

Smoking can affect what captures our attention, but addiction involves more than nicotine. Using eye tracking, this study found that attention to smoking and care-related cues is linked to smoking status, nicotine dependence, and attachment styles, highlighting the role of emotional and social factors in tobacco addiction.
