[SCIENCE MONDAY] - Fabrication of a small-caliber vascular graft functionalized with acid polysaccharides purified from the echinoderm Holothuria tubulosa

In this work, a small-caliber tissue-engineered vascular graft, tunable in terms of structure porosity, fiber alignment, and mechanical properties, was developed. The polycaprolactone nanofibers were functionalized with acidic sulfated polysaccharides from the echinoderm Holothuria tubulosa, which enabled optimal endothelialization and conferred significant antiplatelet and anticoagulant properties to the vascular graft.
