Erasmus+ Program

Our department is proud to be part of the Erasmus+ program, offering students extraordinary opportunities for exchange and international collaboration.

What is Erasmus+?
Erasmus+ is a mobility program promoted by the European Union that allows you to spend between 2 and 12 months at a European or non-European university, supporting student and staff exchanges.

What does it offer?

• The chance to attend courses, take exams, and have them recognized.
• The opportunity to prepare your thesis and participate in internships.
• Financial support through Erasmus+ grants, university scholarships, and regional funding to help cover living and travel expenses.

Where can you go?
The Department of Biomedical Sciences has agreements with about 40 universities:

• In EU member states: Austria, Belgium, Estonia, Germany, Poland, Portugal, Romania, Slovakia, Slovenia, Spain.
• In third countries associated with the program: Ireland, North Macedonia, Turkey.

The full list of partner universities is updated annually and is available when the call for applications is published.

Who can participate?

• Students regularly enrolled at the University of Sassari, with tuition fees up to date.
• Students from:
  • First cycle (Bachelor’s degree)
  • Second cycle (Master’s degree)
  • Third cycle (PhD and Specialization Schools)
• Students can receive one or more Erasmus+ grants for each study cycle, up to a total of 12 months per cycle.
• Students who are not simultaneously receiving other types of EU funding during the Erasmus+ grant period.

1. Student Mobility for Study (SMS): Spend a semester or a year at a partner university.

• Long-term mobility: For Bachelor’s, Master’s, and PhD students, from 2 to 12 months. You can choose to go for just one semester or the entire year. If you go in the first semester, you may request an extension (funds permitting).
• Short-term mobility: For PhD students only, lasting between 5 and 30 days.
• Blended mobility: A combination of physical mobility and a mandatory virtual component for students unable to travel for long periods (subject to host institution approval).

2. Student Mobility for Internship (Erasmus Traineeship – SMT): gain professional experience abroad in companies, organizations, and research institutions. Your digital skills will be assessed and considered during the selection process.

3. Staff Mobility for Training (STT): for technical-administrative staff, professors, PhD students, research fellows, and technologists to receive training at international institutions. Duration: 2 days to 2 months.

4. Staff Mobility for Teaching Assignments (STA): for full professors, associate professors, contract lecturers, and researchers to teach at international institutions. Duration: 2 days to 2 months.

   1. Ensure you meet the academic and language requirements.
   2. Language proficiency must be certified by the University Language Center (CLA) or other recognized institutions, with a certificate valid for no more than 24 months at the time of application.

   1. Consult the list of partner universities and their study programs.
3. Prepare your documents
   1. Read the call for applications carefully.
   2. Fill out the application form, including your Learning Agreement and Motivation Letter, on the self studenti uniss platform.
4. Application deadlines
   1. Stay updated on deadlines by checking the International/Calls section.
