This study demonstrates that, in healthy older adults, motor cortex excitability correlates with weaker connectivity between brain regions involved in brain networks related to attention and sensorimotor processing. This may reflect early signs of brain vulnerability before the onset of clinical cognitive and/or motor symptoms, suggesting that non-invasive brain measurements could help identify early pathological changes.
