The study, published in the International Journal of Antimicrobial Agents, identifies the mechanisms regulating MRSA adaptation to β-lactam antibiotics. Using an integrated genomics and proteomics approach, the researchers outline the susceptome, the set of genes that promote survival under antibiotic stress, highlighting the central role of the stringent response and providing a basis for new therapeutic strategies.
